We do a ton of soldering and welding every day. Custom pieces we create get quite complex. It used to be that centring and attaching 4-5 prongs to a ring was a bit of a chore: the solder would sweep away our carefully-positioned details. Now, we just use our laser welder to keep them in place before soldering. Our most complex pieces have over 40 prongs – no way we could have done it without a laser.

Repairs come to mind as well. A gold chain with a spring lock? Difficult to fix without damaging the spring. Or rather it was difficult before. Now it’s a two-minute job for a junior craftsperson.

We also take on projects we wouldn’t dare otherwise, like resizing an emerald ring. We don’t even have to take out the emeralds before welding – the welding temperature is so low and localised.

To summarise, we now do more complex jobs, more accurately.

Faster too, for that matter. What used to take two days now takes an afternoon.
